Work with us!
Central VT Playback Theatre rehearses weekly in and around Montpelier, Vermont.
We occasionally host open rehearsals and invite new participants
to join our troupe in our playback practice.
We have worked with local organizations to craft customized workshops and playback theatre pop-ups, too!
We would love to talk with you about bringing the art and joy of playback theatre to your community or organization.
We've offered workshops in partnership with: Mosaic Vermont, the Youth Action Task Force (YATF),
The Vermont Network, and the Vermont Workers' Center.

audition process information . . .
Here is what you can expect if you are interested in auditioning for the troupe: we hold New Member Auditions once a year, usually in the Fall, at the start of a new Playback Theatre Season. The process is as follows:
- Step 1: Attend one of our shows, an Open Rehearsal or communicate your desire to audition by emailing Lucy.
- Step 2: We will email you a follow-up form which will include an initial application to audition (to share a bit about your experience/background and availability).
- Step 3: If invited to audition, we will ask you to attend 1-3 rehearsals in September. Rehearsals are currently scheduled for Sunday mornings: 11am-1pm. Auditioning will look like participating in warm-ups, exercises, and playback forms alongside ensemble members (in other words, it will be “low-stakes” and integrated into rehearsal).
- Step 4: Our current members will provide feedback to the directors, who will make a decision on your membership and communicate it to you.
- Step 5: If invited to join the troupe, you would start coming to rehearsals regularly in October. If not invited this year, you will have the opportunity to re-audition the following year!
